I’m Malte, a Berlin-based product designer.

My area of focus is personal finance, specifically brokerage for retail investors, and trading in general.

Currently, I lead the design team at Berlin’s Smartbroker AG.

Before that, I built a variety of apps at Smart Mobile Factory.

My time at SMF

Here’s a few times where I’ve talked about how I work.

Last year, I demonstrated how we take advantage of user feedback at Smartbroker.

In 2020, I explained to PMs, devs and engineers why they aren’t their users.

In May 2019, I spoke about general rules when designing for voice user interfaces.

Here’s a few of the projects I’ve worked on.

They’re a little older, but they still give some insight into how I work and how I approach design.

Both my Master’s and Bachelor’s Thesis were done at the University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam.

In 2023, I returned to the UAS Potsdam as lecturer.

My first course was about the practical uses of AI in UX design. For and with 18 grad students we explored the vast availability of tools aside from ChatGPT.

Read students documentations

My second course “From Mockup to Market” starts in fall 2025 and introduces product design students to real-life working conditions, in cooperation with Smartbroker AG.

Not yet available

I’m always up to talk about anything design and, depending on topic, available for non-profit projects. I’m currently unavailable for any job offers, freelance work or other sidequests.
