Goal

You win a round by having the smallest sum in your display at the end of the round.

Preparation

Each player receives 4 cards, which he places face down in front of him. The remaining cards are laid out as a face-down draw pile and one of them as a face-up discard pile. Then you look at 2 of your own cards.

From now on, the cards may no longer be looked at and their arrangement may no longer be changed. In the first round, the starting player is chosen at random. In subsequent rounds, the winner of the previous round begins. In case of a tie, whoever has the lowest total score goes first.

How to play

The game is played clockwise in turn. Whoever has a turn chooses 1 of 3 options:

1. Take the top card from the pile and replace 1 of your own cards (or identical cards, see below) with the card drawn.

2. Draw a card from the draw pile, look at it, and

Either

Replace 1 of your own cards (or the same cards) with the drawn card

or

Discard the card

or

Use the card action, if there’s any.

3. Announce Cabo.

If a player thinks he has the lowest total of card values, he says Cabo (then he doesn't draw a card). All other players have one more turn. Then the round ends.

If the draw pile is empty, the discard is shuffled (first lay out the top card as a new discard) and placed ready as a new draw pile.

Same cards

2, 3 or 4 cards of the same value can be replaced by 1 card from the draw pile or the discard. To do this, you turn over the same cards and then discard them (you then only have 3, 2 or even 1 card left in the display). If the cards are not the same, you must keep the card drawn in addition to the cards with the supposedly same value.

The card actions

You can forgo the card action. The action can only be used if the card is drawn from the draw pile.

Peek

Look at one of your own cards

Spy

Look at another player’s card

Swap

Swap 1 of your cards with another player’s (don’t look at either card!)

Points

At the end of the round all cards are revealed and the card values of each player are added up. Whoever has the smallest total wins the round and gets 0 points. All other players receive their total as points. If you announced Cabo, but don’t have the smallest sum, you get 5 additional points. In the event of a tie, the Cabo announcer wins and receives 0 points. If the Cabo announcer is not involved in the tie, all players with the smallest total score 0 points. The points are noted.

Special Rules

Kamikaze

If you end a round with two 12 and both 13 you get 0 points and all other players get +50 points.

Exactly 100

If a player reaches a total of 100 points at the end of a round, their total score is reduced to 50 points.

End of Game

If a player reaches 101 points or more, the game ends. The player with the fewest total points wins.
